Welcome to the Website for Campus Justice.

Five years ago, we lost David to an incident of violence at Georgetown University and our family was prohibited from learning the results of the subsequent disciplinary hearings. Since then, we've been trying to correct a law that allows, but does not require, disclosure. With your help, our goal is to improve the access of victims to information concerning the outcome of disciplinary proceedings by colleges and universities.

David A. Shick
1979-2000

I was Dave's roommate from the first day of our freshman year until his death just over two and a half years later. In that time we went from being complete strangers to best friends. Living with Dave for that time and spending much of it inseparable, I am blessed to have many memories of him. But even more than those memories, I miss his selfless outgoing personality and a smile that made anyone and everyone feel comfortable and welcome. I feel blessed to have known him for the short time that I did and that I was able to call him my friend.

At first I didn't want to believe Dave's death was actually true. When told, it seemed surreal. My feelings ran the gamut of emotions, but mostly I felt an emptiness inside that even five years later still hasn't subsided. When I found out that the disciplinary hearing results were to be kept confidential, I was extremely angry, frustrated and confused. I couldn't fathom why Georgetown University would keep the results of such a tragic and far reaching event secret and deny so many people a sense of closure. To avert the future frustration and confusion of victims' family and friends and the community, I ask Georgetown and other Institutions to amend their policies and allow for the disclosure of disciplinary results.
