United States House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20525

Dear Representative__(last name)__:

Please Co-Sponsor H.R. 128!

Recently, The David Shick Honesty in Campus Justice Act, was re-introduced by Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen (NJ-11) with the purpose “to amend the Federal Education Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) to improve the access of the victims of crimes to information concerning the outcome of disciplinary proceedings by institutions of higher education.” It has currently referred to the Subcommittee on 21st Century Competitiveness of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

It is the result of numerous cases of campus crime that go unpunished and the policy of many colleges and universities to hide the results of disciplinary hearings from the victims of violent crimes and non-forcible sex offenses.

I would like to urge you to show your support for victims of campus crime and their right to information about campus disciplinary hearings. I believe there is no reason that this Bill should stay in Committee and would like my Congressman’s pledge of support for this legislation by Co-Sponsoring H.R. 128. This legislation is far too important for my Representative to wait on the sidelines for it to come before him on the House Floor.

Thank you in advance for your support. I know you will see that this is important legislation and a worthy cause that should not be overlooked.

Sincerely,

Mr./Ms./Mrs. __(your name)__
